Depending on the culture that you are most interested in, you may start to acquire middle age weapons that are actually fully functional. There are many types of weapons and armory you can choose from.
Weapons for attacking.
During the middle ages, swords were the most popular choice of attacking weapon. Therefore, when shopping for middle age weapons, it is not uncommon to see a wide variety of swords on sale. Types of swords available are generally named according to its purpose, or they follow the name of their original owners. For example, you may find swords with names such as Sir William Marshall Sword, Duke of Exeter Sword, and so on. Examples of other swords include the mercenary sword, Rhinelander sword, Dagesse sword and more. These are all battle ready swords.
Besides swords, knights in the middle ages also use a wide range of attacking weapons. Medieval weapons include the most widely known war axe, the viking axe, the flail, the crossbow, and more.
For fantasy enthusiasts, there is a wide range of unique fantasy swords available. Since fantasy swords are created out of some designer’s imagination, they are not always functional or battle ready. However, they are very beautiful, have unique designs, which explains why it’s so easy to fall in love with such weapons.
The dagger is another piece of weapon that is commonly known. Daggers are not only used in battles in the middle ages. They are also used for cutting the flesh when taking blood oaths. Blood oaths were often taken by knights to swear their loyalty during the middle ages. Many interesting and exciting stories have been told and retold over the years and daggers provide the necessary evidence as proof that the stories did indeed happen.
When buying middle age swords and daggers, a lot of attention is paid to the design of the hilt as well as the blade.
Weapons for defending.
If there are weapons for attacking, you can be sure that there are also weapons for defending. These come in the form of shields. Middle age shields look huge and they were made from steel and decorated with bronze. Modern replicas attempt to capture this authentic look by using similar materials. Attention to detail is required to recreate the logos of the shields.
The armor is another important piece of the defense suit. Knights in the middle ages wear chain mail armor when they fight. They also wear mail gauntlets (gloves) and boots. The chain mail armor will not stop a full force weapon from piercing it, but it will help minimize the damage or deflect the blow.
Put both attack and defense weaponry together and you are close to seeing a knight come to live in front of you. Now all you need is a horse!
