What Makes Sonic The Hedgehog So very Challenging
Sonic The Hedgehog has been the most famous game from Sega. Starting from back when Sega used to make their consoles, up till present day, Sonic remains a favorite amongst players. Yet, those who are new to the game often find it very challenging. The game actually has a lot that is unique to it and hence makes it a very different experience from other similar games like Mario. Sonic The Hedgehog was the first game to really bring in the element of speed in to the equation and this is the one feature that adds a completely new dimension to the game.
Sonic is known for being speedy and impatient to move. In fact, when he is not moving, he is simply raring to go. Although any character that you choose to play with mimics this behavior, it shows the general lay of the game and the characteristic trait of the game. This speed is something that gamers have to get accustomed to. Not only is it essential to the entire game, it is what almost defines the whole game play in Sonic The Hedgehog. The fact that sonic moves faster than sound has to be conveyed somehow. The spindash move is a very popular move in the games but it was not part of the original game. It was actually implemented later. But it still became as popular as the game itself. The spindash feature yet again works to enhance the complexity of the game and is probably the first, true combo move that Sonic received. However, this move also adds to the complexity of the game. So on top if having to cope with the speed, you now have a move that can be used and will need to used in some cases to accomplish tasks. Then there is the springboard element. These work like real springboards, so the close to the moving end you are, the higher up you will go. This actually shows the level of sophistication that game has. The makers of the game really went a long way to ensure that the game was fully featured as possible. So the springboards add yet another element to the already complex movement patterns within the game. You have to use the springboards just right to get to the targeted point or area. Sometimes they are escape routes and sometimes they are there to help you along a bonus area. And the further features like the moving wheels that accelerate Sonic as he is speeding through make the game as very challenging one. For platformer, this game actually is pretty challenging to fully learn as well. But it is not very hard; so expect to know all the features within the first half an hour to one hour. You can expect to have defeated your first boss within the first two hours. So all in all, it is fairly challenging game, given the complex movements you can make (slide ramps, loops) but it is still a lot of fun.
