What To Deal With Water Intrusion Of Your Watch

Now watches are basically water-resistant( cheap watches not included).The waterproof standard is 30 meters or 3 atmosphers(3 ATM , the same name as the automatic teller machines ,but don’t mistake it )This waterproof standard is called “life waterproofing”,which means it can temporarily resist rain and shower splashing but can’t be worn for swimming and diving.

Watches waterproof structure are based on the sealing rubber ring or nylon ring.However, rubber ring will be aging and generally this will occur after being used for a few years,which will cause the loss of leakproofness.However,even without  inflow of water,its mechanical parts will get rusted by prolonged exposure to moisture  in the damp environment   .

Corrosion of distilled water is less than that of seawater,and corrosion of  chemical reagents is the largest among 5 types above.It is imperative to take action when your watch get water intrusion.Otherwise, water will rust the steel parts inside the case.And tiny components will need to be replaced once getting rusted, which will lead to a great cost of repairment. In addition to the movement components,dial and hands will suffer discoloration and rust from water vapor.

some simple methods to cope with this problem

(1)If your watch is soaked by water ,you can pack it tight with several paper or a lint ,then place it near 40-watt light bulb ,about 15cm away from it, in the end  bake it for about 30 minutes.Don’t bake it near fire in case of suffering deformation of watch mirror from the heat.

(2) wear it in the same way but with your watch upside down ,the water vapor can be revomed after two hours.

(3)put granular silica gel and your watch into a sealed container.A few hours later, the water will disappear when taking your watch out of the container.This method is not only simple and cost-effective but also does little harm to accuracy and life of your watch.Silica gel can have its capacity of water absorption back after being dried at 120 ? for several hours. As a consequence , it can be repeatedly used .

These simple methods may help you ,but if the problem is serous , you should send it to a repair shop as soon as possible.

How To Play Bingo – A Simple Guide

To play a game of bingo firstly you need to have at least one bingo card. This is the minimum and most people, especially when playing online, tend to play multiple cards ? as many as 20 or more for one game (although I’m sure that this isn’t the maximum record that’s ever been played at a time).

When playing in a land based bingo hall, the bingo cards are either sold individually for each game, included as part of the ticket price, or may be sold as part of a package that covers many games. However they are purchased, these cards are your ticket to great prizes, so at this point it’s a good idea to keep some fingers or toes crossed for a winner!

Before the game starts the caller announces what type of game is to be played as there are many different types available ? from the classic but basic one liners, to anything that the hall promoter or caller deems to dream up! Promoters are always on the look out for ways to make the game continually exciting for the players.

To win in bingo the player has to complete a prescribed pattern on their card. Before any balls are drawn, the caller announces the pattern of the game, which is what the players have to complete to achieve a win. The patterns are changed from game to game. In the game keno, players pick their own numbers and the game is played out until 80 numbers have been drawn. In bingo, player’s numbers are predetermined by the cards they receive and the game is over as soon as the first player achieves a winning bingo. The negative in keno is that there is sometimes; even after 80 numbers have been drawn; no winner. With bingo there is always a winner, sometimes even more than one.

The basic patterns that form bingos in a standard game are: diagonal, horizontal, vertical and coverall. These standard bingos may use the middle square (the free square) as part of the pattern.

A horizontal bingo game is formed by five numbers in a straight horizontal line across any of the five horizontal bingo lines. A vertical bingo game is five numbers in a straight vertical line, and again this can be any of the five vertical lines. Diagonal bingo is formed by five numbers formed in a straight line which include the middle free square ? therefore there are only two diagonal lines that can be used. Coverall or blackout bingo is where you have to cover all of the twenty five squares of the bingo card in order to be a winner ? and you of course have to be the first player to do so.

The object of the game is to cover over the numbers on the bingo card which will follow the prescribed pattern of the game by having the numbers that are drawn randomly by the caller. As each ball is drawn each player checks off the numbers they hold, and the first person to cover over the correct pattern will shout out ‘Bingo’ indicating that they are (or think they are ? it has to be checked!) the winner.

The Many Different Kinds of Postage Stamps

Postage stamps were first issued in Great Britain in 1840. The practice soon became common all over the world to show that the postage had been paid on a piece of mail. A stamp is a sticker attached to the top right hand corner of an envelope or package. Since stamps are in different denominations, if a piece of mail is larger or heavier than a standard size letter, several stamps may need to be attached. In order to send any mail through the postal service, you must buy these stamps and affix them to the mail. You can buy envelopes with the stamps already attached or you can buy sheets or rolls of stamps from which you select the ones you need.

Stamps are not always rectangular in shape. There are triangular and circular designs available and even pentagonal. The first countries to use adhesive stamps, which were invented by an English schoolteacher, Sir Rowland Hill, were Sierra Leone and Tonga, which were actually in the shape of fruit. The stamp used by Bhutan is very unusual in that it contains the national anthem on a playable record. The most common material used for issuing stamps is paper, but some have been embossed with gold and in Switzerland, one type of stamp was made from lace.

There are different types of stamps that are used to denote that postage has been paid. These are:

* Airmail Stamps: The word airmail appears on the stamp and they are usually larger than the regular stamps for envelopes. Like the regular stamp they do give the name of the country and the price paid.

* Coil Stamps: These are stamps that you can buy through a vending machine. You tear off a stamp from the coil when you want to use them.

* Commemorative Stamps: these are stamps issued by countries to commemorate a special event that occurs in the country. There may be several of these in any one year, but they are only available in limited quantities.

* Definitive Stamps: These are the main stamps used by a country and are printed and reprinted in large quantities. They are available in many different denominations that would be needed to make up the postage needed to send mail.

* Express Mail Stamps: These are stamps used for mail that needs to arrive in a very short time. There are usually envelopes for such a purpose that contains the postage necessary.

* Military Stamps; The Armed Forces of countries have their own official stamp to use on mail that they send.

* Official Stamps: Only government agencies and bureaus are allowed to use these stamps that are issued by the governments of all countries.

When new stamps are issued, stamp collectors can buy miniature sheets or souvenir sheets that contain only a small number. At various times there have been people depicted on definitive stamps, as well as animals, birds, buildings and events. However, the main stamps used for everyday use contain a number that denotes the price of the stamp.

What makes collecting celebrity autographs, vintage movie posters & historical documents so exciting?

Avid collectors have such passion about their particular areas of interest that is hard to imagine how anyone can NOT be a collector of something.  But, some areas of collecting can take on another dimension that goes beyond just another acquisition.  In the world of autograph and historical documents collecting, acquiring a significant historical document is truly a surreal experience.  For example, most of my family members are not collectors. However, when I first showed them a Presidential Appointment signed by Abraham Lincoln the excitement transcended to non-collectors.  I recall watching several “jaws drop” as they gazed at this magnificent piece of history.

Similar to this experience was when I posted a copy of a historical letter from Admiral Hyman Rickover discussing the recent loss of the USS Thresher. Now, to the average person there are no stimuli invoked by the mention of Admiral Rickover or the Thresher. HOWEVER, to a US Navy veteran, especially a veteran Navy Submariner, the hair stands up on the back of the neck as they read such a letter.  So, I recently posted this chilling letter to my 400 member submarine group and the response was what I expected.  Most of them were not collectors of autographs or historical documents, but this letter induced  special reflective memories.
