Collecting Rare Coins – Some Exciting Tips For Collectors

Rare Coins Available For The Coin Collector
All coin collectors enjoy searching for rare coins to add to their collection, and the rarer they are, the more valuable they become.
A List Of Rare Coins
Gold coins are extremely rare – they were in circulation till 1933, so they can fetch a very high value at an auction. Gold is always worth investing in as the value is on the upward trend – it never goes down.
The Liberty Seated Dollar which was produced in the 19th century is something a coin collector would like to acquire as it is a rare find.
Another coin that is worth keeping is the 20c coins which came out from 1875-1878 They resemble a quarter and today’s value is extremely low.
From 1892-1915, the Barber half dollars were minted, but collectors find it difficult to come across any of these coins that are in very good shape.
The One Standing Liberty Quarter minted in 1917 is a coin that a collector would like to own, but the design showed the breast of Ms.Liberty, and it caused a controversy so the circulation was stopped – it had only been around for a year.
In the 20th century there were Mercury dimes which were sold for $50/- each.
Another coin of great beauty is The Walking Liberty Half Dollar. This had a four year circulation and is one of the rarest coins.
Coming to the Texas Commemorative Half Dollar – this is also extremely rare and very difficult to find as there are only 60 – 80% around.
One of the most expensive coins is the $20/- Saint Gauders. This was auctioned for 8 million dollars. It has a fabulous design and its value has remained intact even during the bear years in the eighties.
It is extremely difficult to get rare coins and the coin collector needs to spend a great deal of time on research by reading magazines or going on the Web for information. He can also go to auctions or join clubs where members may be willing to exchange or sell coins. After the research, he will need to examine the coins for authenticity and check that the quality is good and the price he is paying is worth the item he is buying. A great deal of his time and expense will be spent on finding the right coin, especially if it is a very rare one. If he has the money to invest in this hobby, it is worth all the time and effort if he can get the rarest of coins and add it to his collection, because he knows that in the long run his coins will be worth a small fortune.

All about manuscripts and autograph collecting

All About Manuscripts and Autograph Collecting

Old manuscripts are sometimes found in abandon old houses that have not been occupied in years.  Antique collectors discover these treasures in their search for a variety of other items.  Some of these manuscripts are not so valuable.  The valuable ones make all kinds of media coverage because they are usually worth thousands of dollars.
If your autograph collecting is done as an investment you need to go to yard sales, and house auctions.  Many times parents die and leave the home place to children.  They some times have no idea what is stored in the safes, draws, and closets of some of these homes.  Quite some time ago a person who was autograph collecting came across a handwritten church deed and added it to their autograph collection.  Every name on the deed was deceased.  The church was at that time a major part of the community’s history.  In the early days, manuscripts were handwritten.  Very few people had a manual typewriter and very few people knew how to type.  These handwritten manuscripts are considered a part of autograph collecting.  These handwritten documents are valuable even more so with a signature.
A faction of those who do autograph collecting, collect only manuscripts.  Some even specialize within the subject of manuscripts and collect only governmental, historical or political manuscripts.  In most cases, historical documents are treated as appreciating assets and cannot be depreciated.  Signatures on the Charter of the United Nations and signers of the U.S. Constitution make these documents valuable investments if you are autograph collecting.  If you find one of these documents or some other manuscript of this kind, it will pay to take it through the authentication process so you will know what you have.  It could be the real thing and got lost in the process of being buried down somewhere by someone of another generation.  This may be the super find for which you have been looking.  Autograph collecting can be one of the most rewarding forms of collecting you can do.  Other kinds of manuscripts that may prove to be very valuable are music scores or sheets of music.
Many of our great classical musicians signed their music after they were written and some times dated them.  In fact there was a time when you claimed ownership of everything in your possession by signing it with your name and contact information.  Music sheets that are signed by Brahms, Schumann, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Stravinsky, Bach, Mozart and other great masters of classical music are investments for those who are autograph collecting.  Some of these manuscripts have been out of circulation for generations.  Sometimes, when old buildings are torn down old manuscripts of years past are found.  If they are signed by the author, the value increases. If you go to a college library or the Library of Congress you can get a good look at some of these manuscripts so you can get an idea of what you are looking to find.  Autograph collecting with manuscripts provides you with an opportunity to preserve our rich history and traditions of the past.

Tips to maintain ornamental collectables

Tips to maintain Ornamental Collectables

No matter which age group you belong to but one can’t give up the temptation of cherishing the ornament collectables. Every time you purchase new once it’s added to the old once you have. Ironically the old ones are as cherished as the new once. Every year and year after year the collection get bigger and bigger. Unless, they are mal handled and broken, which is true in most of the cases.
There isn’t any collection at all. However, if you have one huge ornamental collection, collected over years you would enjoy its beauty when the same when gets on the Christmas tree .One would just stand back and admire the Christmas tree with a magnificent collection of the ornaments you have collected over years.
As these ornamentals are responsible for making you feel the way they do once they are placed on the Christmas tree, they defiantly deserve to be taken care off. After spending so much of money and time for purchasing the ornamental collectables, see them weathering away would be heart breaking. Ornamental storage is indispensable if you like cherishing your ornamental collectables and want to use them year after year with the same texture and beauty.
There are so many storage boxes available in the market. Picking the right one is all what one needs to do, to take care of the collectables. There are different kinds ornamental storage boxes to choose form. Some of them are – Ornament Storage to store Christmas ornamentals; Light storage to store Christmas lights; Wreath Storage for wreath and regular containers made out of plastic to keep the rest of the stuff.
With the combination of all or some of the above mentioned boxes you would be able to maintain your ornamental collectables for a very long time. Rather one needs to buy plenty of them as the ornamentals are most of the time very fragile and would demand lot of space to be packed safely, preferably with lot of cotton. It’s recommended that all the fragile ornamentals should be packed and kept together. A sticker that says fragile would really help as caution for those who would have no idea about how the ornamentals were packed last year.
Some times families prefer to decorate more than one tree, and then in that case it would be a good idea to have all the ornamentals of one tree packed together and should be labeled accordingly. This would help the next year to have a perfect balance and count of ornamentals for each tree.
People find it really interesting to unpack the ornamental collection before they start decorating the Christmas tree; however, the process could turn really frustrating if the boxes are falling harming the fragile items. You expecting something and there is something else in the box you open. To avoid such a chaotic situation, its best to label all your ornamental boxes before the final storage. Even if you so sure that you would remember which box contains what, still its highly recommended to label each box before you finally pack the ornamentals for the next Christmas to come.

Undated p coins the true value of the currency

Undated 20p Coins; the true value of the currency

When looking for one of the new undated 20p coins, important things to retain information about the true value of the currency. There are number of sellers register the 20p coins for up to £1,000,000 yes, one MILLION pounds.

It is hard to say the bumpy value of these coins at the same time as it is whatever the market will stand. Presently £50 is offered for each undated 20p coins by the Royal Mint though it is true to say that they will no doubt, to sell them back, to the public at a higher price than its real price. Though, it’s value nowhere by some of the prices that some sellers are trying to achieve simply because such a large number entered the public opinion.

The undated 20p coins will have a good chance of increasing in value with the passage of time but it will be a slow and long process and is not likely to ever be worth the sort of facts that some sellers are trying to find.
If we look at the history, back in 1983, the Royal Mint made a mistake with 20p coins by putting &”new pence&” in the currency. However, decades later that this coin has only increased in value to a couple of hundred pounds and it is also worth noting that much less then of these entered circulations. Undated 20p coins are demanded as what it’s worth to you personally.

If you are a collector then it may be worth slightly more to you due to your personal interest but if you are looking at it as an investment then the undated 20p coins are maybe not the best option for you and it is certainly worth making confident that you are not paying stupid overstated prices for it. In other words, if you’re looking for undated 20p coins as an investment or to add to your collection then check you are buying from a genuine seller, read all the small publish, only deal with sellers that will use recorded delivery and most importantly thing that you must check that the 20p piece that they are selling has no date on both the front and back of the coin.

In the situation when you want a more stable solid investment in coins then of course you struggle looking at habitual gold coins. These coins must have an established value and can often be cheaper than the so-called undated 20p coins and keep on rising in worth. The problem with the true value of the 20p coins is that nobody really knows what it is worth.  The price is the most likely being inflated short term by buyers who have heard about it on the news and attempted to get in to earn direct cash. When the worth has settled, this could mean demand and therefore price settled. If you can afford to it then you please make a small payment.  Absolutely any amount will be amazing, no matter how little or more!

Collecting stories and adding value to your micromuseum

Collecting Stories And Adding Value To Your Micro-Museum

Want to build a valuable legacy over time?  Try looking in old homes, under that old dresser, or up in the attic where great grandma kept her things patiently waiting for you to unearth them.  It is not unlikely to find old coins there, a rare old coin that – at today’s rate – may be worth a few dollars; probably three or four or five, even ten times what the coin was worth back when great grandmother was collecting them.
Pennies, Nickels, Dimes & Quarters – Not Really Chump Change If They Are Rare
Ever find a silver looking penny? A shortage of copper during the year 1943 forced the government to mint all pennies at that time using steel. Because the copper was being used for bullet casings and electrical wire, steel pennies were circulated for three years, but if you find them now, snatch them for your collection.
A few Lincoln pennies were incorrectly minted on bronze that turned out to be blanks.  A few years – or decades later -these bronze pennies became a rarity and are valuable.  The steel ones though, because of their commonality, are worth only between one to three dollars each. Still, three dollars is not exactly something you should sneeze at.
As in all areas of society, coin collecting is also fraught with scams and fraudsters. Be careful not to be one of those gullible coin collectors who are sold coins that are copper plated in an attempt to make these pennies appear to be bronze.  Also, keep your guard up anytime someone offers you a circa 1943 penny made out of a metallic white alloy. Your best bet is to buy coins from reputable dealers and have the coins appraised to ensure you get the best value for your collection.
Coins – Age Makes Them Better
Coins, specifically the silver dollars made and circulated between the years 1878 and 1935, are worth between twelve dollars and twenty five dollars.  Uncirculated coins are worth considerably more. Often, especially today, the silver coins are placed in a plexiglass covering immediately upon being minted to keep them at their highest uncirculated value.
In fact, if you were to have collected one freshly minted silver dollar per month since 1970, you would have accumulated a small fortune today. Silver coins that have been graded by the three major firms in the industry can be worth significantly more than coins that are loose. Many collectors are opting for a steady collection of silver dollars each month as a hedge against inflation, as the coins will just become more valuable as the paper dollar loses value.
Quarters, Dimes & Half Dollars
If you find old quarters, dimes, or half  dollar coins made and circulated prior to 1965, you’ll find that these were usually made out of ninety percent silver! Because of this, they can be worth as much as today’s silver (with an additional premium, albeit small, put on the coin’s face value).
Miscued Means Moolah
A 1972 Lincoln penny on which the date and the letters appear to have been doubled is not a result of too many martinis!  These rare coins are currently worth about sixty dollars in standard circulated condition. The reason for the miscue is that the Philadelphia Mint accidentally misaligned the die used to mint the pennies, causing the portrait of Lincoln to look like it was doubled.  Because eighty thousand of these were circulated before the error was discovered, the value of these coins are incredible. Should you find one in close to perfect condition, you could be looking at close to a million dollars, because these are so rare.
As you can see, coin collecting is like collecting pieces of history and trivia from the past.  The face value of the coins is nothing compared to its worth as a storyteller – pennies, dimes, quarters, half dollars and silver dollars… these coins are often worth more once you have the story that went with it. As you grow a collection, you grow as the historian for your collection, like the curator of your own museum, and your collection just grows in value along with your legacy.
