Choosing the right glow plug for your nitro rc car

Choosing the Right Glow Plug for Your Nitro Rc Car

The glow plug is one amazing piece of engineering, the closest anyone has ever got to a true perpetual motion machine, you radio controlled cars engine will run without anything apart from fuel, no spark plugs or electrical ignition, these babies run on the glow.
Selecting the correct glow plug is not that difficult you just have to understand how they work. Truth be told they are not exactly perpetual motion machine, they still require a little kick with a 1.5V battery to start the glow, after that they will keep glowing as long as the engine is running.
Turbo or Standard
A turbo plug will only work in a turbo engine, these do not have tiny 1:10 Scale fans blowing air into the engine like there full sized counter parts, the turbo plug is tapered at the end to create a tighter fit to the engine head, this in turn increases power slightly, you can’t use a turbo plug in a standard engine, these require standard plugs.
The Glow Plug Temperature Rating
You need to find the right temperature glow plug for your engine, a hotter plug will work better when the engine is a little short of heat, while you should use a cooler glow plug if you have a large engine that produces a lot of heat.Hotter glow plugs also make it easier to start your engine, while the colder glow plugs will give you slightly better performance during you run.
There is no right or wrong setup, everything needs to be taken into account, from the temperature of the air to the hight above sea level these all affect they way the glow plug will perform.
Quality over quantity.
When buying a radio controlled glow plug it’s always, as so many things in file, worth your while to get the slightly more expensive glow plug, these generally have a more consistent tune and heat and will often outlast the cheaper plugs by several runs, which makes up for the extra cost.
Reading your glow plug
Using a few simple methods it’s easy to find out how close you are to a perfect tune by inspecting the glow plug, if there is a surplus of oil on the head then they are running to rich and need to lean up your mixture, if your glow plug is a grey color with a small amount of oil then your spot on with your tune, likewise if there is little to no oil and your glow plug filament is bent or thinning where it connects to the base of the glow plug then you are too lean and need to richen your mixture.
Some general points about glow plugs

  • Never touch the filament, this is very fragile and doing so can break the filament and ruin a plug.
  • Protect your engine by only buying good glow plugs from decent hobby shops
  • Keep your glow plugs in a cool dry place, they don’t like moisture
  • Always select the right glow plug
  • Follow the recommended break in procedures for your engine.
  • When Breaking in an engine chances are that the plug you use will be ruined.
  • Keep your engine in tune
  • Never tighten a glow plug too much, it doesn’t need to be as tight as you think
  • Watch out for nitro detonation, this means your using the wrong plug or your tune is way off.
  • Use the right glow starter

The early postal system and first stamp

The Early Postal System and First Stamp

The very first stamp, the penny black, was issued on May 6, 1840 in Great Britain. The invention of the postage stamp is attributed to Sir Rowland Hill. The idea of a stamp as a prepaid method for sending mail is actually older than that: “Cavallini&” were used as soon as 1819 by the  Sardinian post.
Before 1840, the recipient had to bear the cost of postage: the recipient was thus showing he/she valued the letter sent to him or her. Transportation was likely not very reliable as well for somebody willing to agree to pay upfront for shipping. Calculation of the cost of postage was complicated: weight was taken into account of course, so was the precise distance between sender and receiver.
It is said that Rowland Hill witnessed the following scene : a servant receives a letter from her lover, the postman gives it to her but after inspecting it for a few seconds she refuses to pay the tax. Mr Hill then offers to pay for the letter but she refuses.
The servant lets Mr Hill on her little secret: her lover scribbles a few light signs on the letter and by looking at them, she knows the global situation of her fiancé.
Hill wants to do the following to reform the postal system:
·    Make the sender pay for sending mail.
·    Lower the cost for sending letters to promote their use.
·    Simplify prices. A single price to be paid for sending letter in the country.
The first measure enables makes it so that the post is always paid for its service. The second also has for purpose to stimulate commerce. The last measure is necessary if we want the sender to know easily the amount to be paid.
All this prompted the creation of the postage stamp : a convenient way to prepay a letter without having to go each time to the post office. On May 6 1840, the public had the choice between the Penny Black Stamp and the &”Mulready&” prepaid envelope. The stamp is preferred by the public, envelopes being still foreign to people at the time as the common practice was to fold the letters and seal them.

A short history of sonic the hedgehog

A Short History of Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is the main character of a popular line of video games developed by Sega. He also stars in various spin-offs and franchises that include mangas, regular comics, TV series, animes, books, etc. He also has a lot of merchandise designed around him just like any other famous carton character.

Sonic originated from the rivalry between Sega and Nintendo, which is still going on although Nintendo has moved ahead in the mean time. Sega at that time needed something to rival the famous Mario, who was also the Mascot of Nintendo. So under the orders of Sega bosses, team Sonic developed Sonic the Hedgehog. He was a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog whose color was chosen in keeping with the Sega logo used at that time. The people who share the main credit for creating such a popular icon are – Artist Naoto Oshima, designer Hirokazu Yasuhara and programmer Yuji Naka.

The main aspect of a Sonic game is the tremendous speed at which Sonic moves. The entire gameplay depends on the speed and the momentum without which the game cannot be played.

The first game called Sonic the Hedgehog and also referred to as Sonic 1 was released for Sega’s own gaming console – Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. This game is also the place where Sonic’s archenemy Dr. Ivo Robotnik makes his first appearance. Robotnik has stayed on as the main villain through the franchise. The game was released on 23 June 1991.

Sonic was joined by his friend and fan Miles ‘Tails’ Powers in Sonic 2, a sequel to the original game which was released in 1992. Tails is a two-tailed fox who can fly for short durations and has often helped Sonic by airlifting him. This is also the game where Sonic’s signature ‘Spindash’ move was introduced. It was later added to the original game during a legacy release.

In 1993, the game Sonic CD was released where Amy Rose was introduced. Amy Rose is a pink female hedgehog who sees Sonic as her boyfriend. She is often captured by Robotnik and subsequently rescued by Sonic. This game also sees the introduction of Metal Sonic, Sonic’s evil robotic twin created by Dr. Robotnik. This is not the same as Mecha Sonic, which was also built by Robotnik but later. In this game Sonic travels through time to make the world a safer place.

In 1994, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and its direct sequel ‘Sonic and Knuckles’ were both released one after another. The two games were actually meant to be one game but the developers could not keep their deadline. Here, Sonic and Tails fight Robotnik who also tricks Knuckles the Echidna into tuning against Sonic.

There were other titles as well during this period: –

* Sonic Chaos (1993)

* Sonic Triple Trouble (1994)

* Sonic Blast (1996)

* Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventures (1999)

These were two-dimensional games and were followed by the games like Sonic Rush (2005) and Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008).

Pricing coins

Pricing Coins

Coin collectors regularly keep a keen eye on the value of their coin collection as well as the grade of their coins. The price of a collectible coin depends on such aspects such as supply and demand, it’s a fact that whenever coin inventories cannot be moved at the current price level, its prices suffer and decline as well. However, when the quantities are sufficient to meet demand, a coin’s price will surely increase too. Demand is generally established by collectors and investors; however it’s more than often influenced and directed by dealers, because most coin dealers sell coins at a price way above the original cost, for them to both make a profit and cover expenses.

Apart from supply and demand, there are a number of factors that determine a collectible coin’s price. A coin’s age is one major factor that determines price, as dealers will put into premium on the date it was made, or how many were made and how many coins are currently accounted for. However, if the coin is new, its current condition and the coin’s grade will determine its value. Multiple-pricing tiers also are set for properly pricing a collectible coin.

A coin’s retail price refers to the price that the dealers charge their collectors and investors, while its wholesale price denotes the price that dealers charge each other. For collectors and investors to exactly determine a coin’s current value, they could check out the Published Price Guides, which generally lists a coin’s standard retail or wholesale price. A little window shopping could also help, because the actual prices may vary, and could be sometimes be a bit higher or lower than the values mentioned in the Published Price Guide.

Generally, most coin dealers make a profit by paying less than the wholesale price, especially when buying coins from the public. Because dealers purchase coins below the wholesale price, it may be quite tough for collectors and investors to recoup their investments should they decide to get their money back. An individual collector may also be able to fish for a better price for their coins by bypassing a dealer. However, it may not be that easy spotting another collector or investor who’s looking for the exact coin or coins that the collector wants to sell or dispose off. Buying coins from a dealer has its advantages though, because a dealer can be able to guarantee the authenticity of the coin that is being sold, and they also have the trained eye to effectively detect any imperfections or defects on the coin, as well as properly assessing its grade.

To sum it up, the best way of finding out just how much your coin is worth, would be by taking these to a reputable and professional coin dealer or grading service. A number of reputable coin dealers will be more than willing to appraise your coin for free, especially if you’re thinking of selling them. However, most professional grading services charge a relatively small fee for grading your coins, and these would depend on how valuable the coin is.
