Timex camper watch

Timex Camper Watch

When it comes to watch brands for the masses, “Timex” is a name that both men and women, young and old can identify with. Many of us have relied on Timex to produce the time for us in the form of a wrist watch for many years. As mentioned Timex comes in styles for both men and women. However the Timex Camper Watch for men is what I’d like to feature in this article.

This watch is for those men who are very active. Whether you love to mountain climb, go biking or a good round of tennis or golf, this is the watch for you. It’s not just for camping enthusiasts. The numbers are very easy to read, which comes in handy after working up a sweat. It has a very handsome look however, that can go from outdoor activities to casual settings with no problem. It’s manufactured to be rugged and the wristband is rugged as well and made of fabric instead of leather. The band of the Timex Camper watch comes in Velcro or fabric. You can choose from a black wrist band to a combination of brown and tan. The watch dial is white and the casing around the dial is black.

One of the technologies used to create the watch is call “Indiglo”. It allows for illumination of the watch dial during the evening hours; another great benefit for those who are active-night or day. There’s a date feature that comes in handy on your camping trips or your day trips. The Timex Camper watch is also water resistant, again, speaking to the active. Water rafters won’t be disappointed as the resistance to water is up to 30 meters. The back of the watch is stainless steel, which is another sign of durable quality. In addition to that you have a clasp closure that won’t quickly give in to wear and tear. This small feature is actually very important when it comes to a watch for the rugged, sporting or outdoor type. The movement is analog; which many traditionalists find comforting as opposed to digital.

Timex has done it again with a watch that makes a great gift for the active guy in your life. A classic watch is a good gift for a son, husband, uncle or father. It works just as well for the young and old. When you give a Timex, you simply can’t go wrong.

Mineral collecting

Mineral Collecting

Mineral collectors already know the joys of this popular hobby.  If you collect other objects of curiosity and desire, you should definitely try mineral collecting.  Brilliant color is among the most exciting characteristics that most minerals, in their best form, possess.  In addition to color,  each species has their own special and unique chemical and physical properties such as different crystalline habits.  Outstanding color and crystallinity often are desired properties that give most minerals their desireablity.  Rarety and artistic beauty are two important requirements for collectibility.

There are still many places that you can find minerals, but check individual state laws before going out to collect in the field.  Many clubs have excellent mineral shows where you can learn the fundamentals and see firsthand how great this hobby really is.  Just type in “mineral club shows” on your favorite search engine.  The best and biggest show in the US is held in Tucson, AZ during February of each year.  The “Tucson Event” as it is now known, is actually a huge conglomerate of shows all related to this hobby.  If you decided to travel there, be forwarned that it is a very heavy dosage of this interest.  Again, you can go online to research  specific shows before going to Tucson.  No one can possibly take in this extravaganza in one trip.  The entire event lasts at least three weeks.

Along the way, you cannot help but absorb some of the 3 gees, (geology, geometry, and geography) also, chemistry, art and of course, mineralogy.  For a good variety of colorful mineral specimens, check www.forrestercc.com.

I do have to caution new collectors about one serious problem with this endeavor.  It, like other hobbies, can be very addicting.  Once you have started collecting, the only cure is to quickly add another mineral specimen to your collection.   But, by then you should know the incomparable joys of mineral collecting.  Good Luck!

Inner value of collecting willow tree figurines

Inner Value of Collecting Willow Tree Figurines

Figurines add a touch of personality to your home. They come in all types and forms from animal figurines to crystal dragon figurines. Not only do figurines add some spice to your home but many people collect figurines as well, including myself. One of my favorites are the Willow Tree Figurines created by Susan Lordi. The Willow Tree Figurines are relatively new to the figurine scene, but they are gaining much popularity. The Willow Tree line of figurines was launched in 2000 without any textile mediums used at all. The first 16 figurines, which were angels and a couple nativity sets, were all hand crafted by Susan Lordi. Actually, all the Willow Tree Collectibles are first crafted by her hand, and then it is reproduced with loving detail by DEMDACO.

The figurines are pretty simple, with faceless expressions. Yet, they are very powerful at conveying specific emotions – through the body language of the figurine. These figurines are gaining much popularity and are quickly becoming a valuable collecting item. Some of the figurines are retired and becoming hard to find. If you enjoy collecting figurines as I do, I recommend looking into Willow Tree Figurines.

Willow Tree Figurines also make wonderful gifts for just about any occasion. The individual figurines are so affordable – the average is under $20 and many are less than $15. If you are looking for thoughtful, yet inexpensive gifts this holiday season, you have Willow Tree to consider.

Thse figurines also make excellent wedding cake toppers. The resin used for the Willow Tree Cake Topper is cured and painted with lead-free paint. In addition, it has undergone specific testing to ensure it is food safe.

The appeal of these figurines are easy to understand. It is only expected that Willow Tree figurines will grow in popularity in the coming years. I for one will get my hands on as many as I can.

From action figures to dragon figurines to willow tree figurines, peoplelove collecting figurines. We purchase them for ourselves and give them as gifts. Why do people like collectible figurines so much? Some enjoy the artistic nature of the figurines while others collect and sell them for profit. Collecting figurines for the sole purpose of profit may seem wrong in way, but dealing will cool figurines is a lot more fun than investing in the stock market. It may not be as profitable, but collectable figurines to gain value over time. Certain figurines that are discontinued and not made anymore are especially sought after and valuable.

For most collectors though, collecting figurines is not about profit but about the beauty and artistic nature of the figurines. A simple figurine can bring about emotions. Maybe it reminds you of a loved one who gave it to you or perhaps it just gives you a certain feeling from the way it is sculpted.

Collecting figurines is a great hobby to pick up. There is so many figures available to choose from no matter what your personal tastes are. The added bonus is the value these figurines will hold. Not just financially, but emotionally as well.

Information about robots sheldon kalnitsky

Information about Robots – Sheldon Kalnitsky

A robot is a autonomous device which performs automated tasks, either according to direct human control, partial control with human supervision, or completely autonomously. Robots are typically used to do tasks that are too dull, dirty, or dangerous for humans. Industrial robots used in manufacturing lines used to be the most common form of robots, but that has recently been replaced by consumer robots cleaning floors and mowing lawns. Other applications include toxic waste cleanup, underwater and space exploration, surgery, mining, search and rescue, and mine finding. Robots are also finding their way into entertainment and home health care.
Overview
The word robot comes from the Czech word robota meaning “drudgery”, “servitude”, or “forced labor”. A robot can be defined as a man-made entity with an intelligent connection between perception and action. A robot may include a feedback-driven connection between sense and action, not under direct human control. The action may take the form of electro-magnetic motors or effectors that move an arm, open and close grippers, or propel the robot. Two basic ways of using effectors are to move the robot around or to move other objects around. This distinction divides robotics into two mostly separate categories: mobile robotics and manipulator robotics. The step by step control and feedback is provided by a computer program run on either an external or embedded computer or a microcontroller.
Alternately, robot has been used as the general term for a mechanical man, or an automaton resembling an animal, either real or imaginary. It has come to be applied to many machines which directly replace a human or animal in work or play. In this way, a robot can be seen as a form of biomimicry. Anthropomorphism is perhaps what makes us reluctant to refer to the highly complex modern washer-dryer as a robot. However, in modern understanding, the term implies a degree of independence that would exclude many automatic machine tools from being called robots. It is the search for ever more highly autonomous robots which is the major focus of robotics research and which drives much work in artificial intelligence.
Though we tend to think of robots as extremely complicated, thanks typically to their anthropomorphic physical design and our excess of indoctrination to the “Danger, Will Robinson!” robots of 1960s television, the fundamental elements are very simple. Motion is achieved by motors controlled by digital circuits that incorporate a key power semiconductor switching element called a thyristor or silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR). The robot turns when only one of two parallel motors is actuated: for example, stopping the left motor while running the right motor causes the dummy to turn left. Digital signals fed to the motor control circuitry determine which motors move at which times.
The problem can range from very simple (e.g., turning left or right) to very complex (e.g., controlling an elbow and wrist to move an item from a conveyor belt to a shelf). The signals can be sent by an outside element (e.g., a human operator) or by internal circuitry that makes “decisions” based upon observations of the robot’s environment and may alter these decisions based upon whether the motion is proceeding acceptably (see feedback).
Underlying simplicities not withstanding, combinations of various computer systems and electromechanical subsystems can produce the appearance of profound sophistication, e.g., a “chess-playing robot” that really should be viewed as two discreet systems Chess-playing software that has nothing to do with robotics; A Robot that interacts with the chess board.

Badges that won the west lincoln county sheriff

Badges That Won The West — Lincoln County Sheriff

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s badge recalls the violent 1870s, when a range war erupted between several wealthy ranchers and a trio of corrupt businessmen in the town of Lincoln.  The most famous participant in the conflict was William Henry McCarty, a.k.a. William H. Bonney, who was better known as “Billy the Kid”.  The outlaw gained most of his notoriety during the Lincoln County War by killing Sheriff William Brady and several deputies wearing Lincoln County badges.

The trouble in Lincoln County began when town merchants Lawrence Murphy and James Dolan were joined by a third partner named  John Riley in their ownership of Murphy and Dolan Mercantile and Banking.  At the time, Lincoln County was the largest county in the nation, spanning about 20% of the entire New Mexico Territory.

Murphy, Dolan and Riley were part of a ring of corruption that extended all the way
to the territorial capital of Santa Fe.  They used their political connections to obtain
government contracts with Fort Stanton, and soon controlled virtually all the
trade in the large county. The immense profits on the goods they sold for extortionate prices in their store, coupled with the low prices they paid smaller ranchers for their cattle, understandably angered the county’s less prosperous residents.

Lincoln Attorney Alexander McSween was sympathetic to the plight of the smaller ranchers. He and John Tunstall, a wealthy English cattleman, opened a rival mercantile to compete with Murphy and Dolan’s monopolistic store. Their new venture had the financial backing of John Chisum, another wealthy rancher in the region who owned more than 100,000 head of cattle.  The John Wayne movie, “Chisum” is based upon the main characters in the Lincoln County saga.

In 1878, Murphy and Dolan used their political connections to obtain a legal writ giving them the right to seize a herd of horses from Tunstall as payment for a debt he supposedly owed.  The posse formed by Sheriff William Brady to serve the order and seize the horses was composed mostly of criminals.  Many were members of the Jessie Evans Gang–an outlaw band that had once counted Billy The Kid among its members.  The posse bided their time until they caught Tunstall alone in open country on February 18, 1878.  When he objected to their presence on his land, he was shot dead by Jessie Evans, William Morton and Frank Baker.

Though they were too far away to prevent the murder, it was witnessed from a distance by several of Tunstall’s “cattle guards”, including The Kid.  It was Tunstall’s murder that ignited the Lincoln County conflict into a full-blown range war.

Outraged by the killing, The Kid and several of Tunstall’s “cattle guards” formed their own posse called “The Regulators”. Led by Dick Brewer, Tunstall’s ranch foreman, the Regulators’ sole reason for existing was to track down and and apprehend Tunstall’s killers.  The Regulators soon flushed out Morton and Baker, and fought a running battle with the two men in the countryside until they surrendered. The Regulators returned to Lincoln a few days later claiming Morton and Baker had both been killed during an alleged escape attempt. Few believed this tale, given the number of bullet holes in the two men, but since the Regulators had warrants of arrest charging Morton and Baker with Tunstall’s murder (obtained by Alex McSween), they were still operating within the bounds of the law–however tenuously–at that point.

But that soon changed.  Governor Axtell, who was squarely in the Murphy-Dolan camp in the dispute, declared the Regulators outlaws. Undeterred, the Regulators made plans to settle accounts with Sheriff William Brady, whom they suspected of looting Tunstall’s store after his death.  Within a month, six Regulators, including The Kid,
ambushed and killed Sheriff Brady and George Hindman, another of his deputies, in the middle of Lincoln’s main street.  Brady sustained at least a dozen wounds, and Hindman  was shot twice.

Corrupt he may have been, but the violent murder of Sheriff Brady and his deputy on the main street of Lincoln was enough to convince many other residents of the county that there were no ‘good guys’ in the conflict, as both sides in the range war seemed equally bloodthirsty.

John Copeland was appointed sheriff to replace the late Brady, but when he refused to take sides in the conflict, Murphy-Dolan again called on their corrupt political partners to remove him and replace him with one of their own.  Sheriff George Pippin not only favored the Murphy-Dolan faction, he was on their payroll. The bloodshed continued with sporadic killings, finally culminating in a five-day siege of McSween’s Lincoln home, during which his house was set on fire. The Regulators who had taken refuge in the house managed to escape and flee, but McSween was shot and killed, though he was unarmed when he ran from the blazing house.

In the fall of 1878, Governor Lew Wallace was appointed by President Hayes to replace the corrupt Governor Axtell, whose collusion with the Murphy/Dolan group was a major factor in the Lincoln County conflict. In an attempt to end the range war,
Governor Wallace issued an amnesty for all combatants–except Billy the Kid.  The
amnesty officially ended the range war.

The Kid and his gang of followers, meantime, had turned to cattle rustling to support
themselves, and had become a serious nuisance to the cattle ranchers in the area, including John Chisum.  In November, 1880, Pat Garrett was elected Sheriff of Lincoln County with Chisum’s backing, running on a platform of putting an end to the cattle rustling in the county, and Governor Wallace put a $500 bounty on Billy the Kid.

Sheriff Garrett and a posse tracked down and killed two of the remaining Regulators–The Kid’s closest compadres, Tom O’Folliard and Charlie Bowdre, and on July 14, 1881, killed Billy the Kid in Fort Sumter, New Mexico.  All three of them are buried together in Fort Sumter, beneath a headstone with their names carved beneath an epitaph that reads, simply, “Pals”. After the marker was stolen several times, it was surrounded by a heavy wire cage to deter further souvenir hunters.
