Metamorphosis Of Sonic The Hedgehog

Since its d?t in 1991, Sonic the Hedgehog has undergone many changes. Even though the basic design has remained constant, the look and feel of the character underwent a sea of changes depending on the designers and artists on the creative team. While the original Sonic designed by Ohshima was short, childish with small quills and round body, the Sonic redesigned by Yuji Uekawa was taller with long legs, longer and drooping spikes. It had leaner body and green eyes. Since then many less obvious changes have been brought forth in the design of our beloved hedgehog.

The platform game Sonic the Hedgehog, also known as Sonic 1, featured its arch-rival Dr. Robotnik, who later came to be known as Dr. Eggman. Next in queue was Sonic 2 which brought Tails, the lovable sidekick of Sonic. Released in 1992, Sonic 2 also introduced Sonic’s Super Sonic form and its famous Spin Dash. In the following year, Sonic CD launched Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, Sonic’s girl friend and counterpart respectively. This instalment for the first time had Sonic the Hedgehog time travelling to save the world.

1994 was the year when Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and its sequel Sonic & Knuckles were released. While Sonic and Tails battled Dr. Robotnik in Sonic 3, its sequel featured Sonic fighting Knuckled the Echidna who had been swindled by Dr. Robotnik into fighting with Sonic.

Minor games like Sonic Chaos, Sonic Triple Trouble, Sonic Blast and Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure followed Sonic 3 and it appeared as if Sonic game series is facing its doom. But proving all its distracters wrong, Sonic Adventure was released in 1998 and became an instant hit with full voice over for Sonic and Dr. Robonik rechristened Dr. Eggman.

It took three years for Sonic Adventure 2 to hit the market. Sonic made its foray in Nintendo handheld devices with Sonic Advances in 2001 which was followed by Sonic Advances in 2002. Sonic Advances 3 was released in 2004 followed by Sonic Rush in 2005. It was in 2006 that Sonic the Hedgehog found its way to underwater city of Soleanna on a rescue mission to save Princess Elise from Dr. Eggman while keeping a wide berth from Silver the Hedgehog.

But that is not all, 2005 had another installment of Sonic in Game Boy with Sonic Rush Adventure. The Blue Blur has also been made into a number of television series four of which have been released in United States. The Blue Blur has made it as far as Hollywood with a feature movie presentation as well, which had its followers flocking to movie theaters.

Collecting Challenge Coins such as the Coast Guard Challenge Coin has become very popular in recent times. Men and women of all ages are more than eager to take the challenge for the chance of having a free soda or beer. The military has totally started a tradition that proves their soft side, which is satisfied by just having a bottle of beer. While this is one easy challenge, there are still a lot of people who don’t know the Challenge Coin Rules very well. If you’re one of those folks, here’s the Challenge rules in a nutshell.
A Challenge Coin is not just an ordinary coin that can be found in a key chain, a belt bucket, or attached to a paperweight. It is something that represents a unit organization or a group, and that the coin is safely placed in one’s pocket or safe box. However, there is one exception to the Challenge Coin rules. Coins that are placed in a clasp or a holder and then worn like a necklace are an exception to the rule, since these are considered valuable coins – and considered as Challenge Coins.
The challenge begins with either a visual or verbal check.
The visual coin check is done by simply placing your Challenge Coin on a plain surface in a force-sufficient manner. This will alarm everyone that you are putting up a coin challenge. The verbal coin check is done by holding up your coin in the air and expressing your intention to challenge. You have to state it in a loud manner so that everyone in the crowd would know that you are initiating a coin challenge. This is true for the challenger.

If you are the one being challenged, the right response according to the Challenge Coin rules is to simply produce your coin and then present it to the challenger.
Remember, the coin is not just an ordinary coin. It should be an acceptable coin. If you happen to present a coin from a different unit you will take the consequence.

If you did not respond properly to the challenge, you will have to buy the challenger a drink of his choice and all the members who participated in the challenge.
In the reverse side, if all the members responded correctly to the challenge, the challenger will be the one to buy the drinks. If you fail or refuse to buy a drink, you may be subjected to a despicable crime, and you will be required to turn over your coin to the agency where it was issued. There is no right place and right time to initiate the challenge. You can do it anytime you want, wherever you want. You can even do it right in the middle of a long walk.
Now that you know the Challenge Coin Rules, be sure to carry your coin at all times if you do not want to spend a couple of bucks to buy drinks. But, just in case you’re not sure about your coin, it’s also a good idea to carry some money in your pocket!

If you are collecting, or preparing to start collecting Star Wars toys, figures or other kinds of collectible items, you don’t necessarily have to be the utra serious type of collector who hopes to make a fortune one day by selling his unique collection on eBay. There’s nothing wrong with collecting your favorite Star Wars or Clone Wars characters, vehicles or scenes just for fun. If you’re just starting, here’s a couple of tips to help you choose the ideal category of Star Wars collectables to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.

What Star Wars toys / figures to choose?

When collecting for fun, not for money, it’s generally a good idea to select a category based on your personal preference, but still follow your common sense in terms of price, size and availability of your chosen category of Star Wars collectibles.

• Price: You will probably want to stay away from rare vintage Star Wars figures, exact lightsaber and blaster replicas and other expensive items. Instead, make an estimate on the size of collection you want to build, and then look for more affordable alternatives which don’t exceed your budget.
• Size: Unless you have a separate room reserved for the sole purpose of storing your collection, you’ll probably avoid collecting large scale items like the wearable types of Star Wars helmets, blaster rifle replicas etc. Fortunately, most of these items also exist in scaled versions, which doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to sacrifice high level of detail, quality material and good workmanship.
• Availability: If you want to continue collecting your favorite Star Wars toys for some time to come, you’d better choose items produced in large numbers, which are easy to find and purchase. It’s a good idea to stick with manufacturers like Hasbro. LEGO and other brands, which hold a long-term license for producing Star Wars and Clone Wars official merchandise.

My Personal Tips

Here’s my top 3 list of items which comply with the above recommendations, and which I personally find interesting and fun to collect.

• LEGO mini Star Wars figures
  What makes them my top choice is that besides meeting all the mentioned requirements, they are extremely popular both among adult collectors and their children. The line of Star Wars minifigures includes all your favorite characters you can think of, some of them in several different versions. The fact that the parts are interchangeable makes them easily customizable, which adds even more value.
• Star Wars Mighty Muggs figures
  This is a very popular line of collectible 6-inch vinyl figures released by Hasbro is recognized by typically large character head and chunky body. It includes an entire suite of Star Wars characters inspired by the original movie saga, the Clone Wars animated series and even the related video games. If you are creative, you can even buy a blank white customizable figure and create your own unique designs.
• Star Wars Titanium Series die-cast vehicles
  If you prefer spacecraft and vehicles to the figures, you should consider Hasbro’s line of very detailed metal die-cast collectibles called Titanium Series. It replaces the original line of die-cast collectibles produced by Kenner since 1979 and brings back all the quality and detail which makes these toys very popular among collectors.
