Online multiplayer games for all ages

Online Multiplayer Games For All Ages

Online multiplayer games are becoming more and more popular in recent years. It doesn’t matter what age group you belong to – players from all ages join these virtual worlds to have fun.

On the Internet, there are a plethora of MMORPG games that you can join. A few options include WOW, Age of Empire, Evony online and Everquest.

Traditionally, players are required to buy the original CD. The purchase will give the player access to an activation key. In order to log on to the game servers to start playing, players have to enter the activation key to register an account. With no activation key, players cannot start a game.

However, games have started to evolve with the growth of the Internet. Just a few short years ago, a CD is still required because there is no way for a player to download the resource intensive media files with limited bandwidth. The speed of download is so fast now that the need to own a CD has been eliminated. Downloading and installation is a breeze with the increased speed. They may then launch the game and start connecting to the game servers immediately.

Gaming companies soon found that they no longer have to depend on traditional distribution channels to gain an audience. That means they can do everything themselves – from developing the game to promoting the game. Everything can be done online.

One excellent instance is Evony – a multiplayer game that is free to join. A player does not have to purchase anything from a retail store. By advertising online, the game has been able to attract millions of player without having to depend on stores. The game starts without having to make any purchase.

This game continues to be free. Players are not required to make any purchase to continue playing the game. There is no trial period. So if no upfront payments are collected, how can money be made for the game to be profitable for its developers?

Evony makes money by selling virtual items to game players. If you are in a hurry to level up so that you can become more competitive in the game, you have to start making purchases. For the game play to continue to be exciting, you may have to buy some items in order to stay competitive. Otherwise, you’re just a sitting duck waiting to be demolished. Many special items are available for sale. If you have friends of allies online, you can trade with them so that everyone wins!

Everyone wants to become stronger as quickly as possible. A lot of time is required to develop an account or character if no purchase is made. It is not uncommon to find players spending huge amounts of money just to develop their character or account. So they purchase characters or accounts from other players so that they can skip levels and proceed to the more challenging levels.

Some games are designed in such a way that alliances are beneficial. Sometimes, you see hundreds of guilds being built for popular games. You may be surprised to find that some guilds don’t accept anyone. Members of the guild help one another to overcome challenges in the game. Such games encourage social behavior and the games tend to be more fun, entertaining and addictive.

Who is sonic the hedgehog

Who Is Sonic The Hedgehog?

Many internet surfers seeking entertainment in the form of free flash games to play online find themselves stumbling across a speedy blue blur character who fills their screen with hours of fun. His name is Sonic the hedgehog, he appears as the main character in a video game series developed by SEGA in 1991. His launch was part of a strategy by SEGA corp. to rival Nintendo’s Mario, and since them, has become the second best known video game character with over 50 million copies sold worldwide.

Sonic games where developed by artist Naoto Ōshima, programmer Hirokazu Yasuhara, and Yuji Naka. The games are mostly known for Sonic’s ability to run faster than the speed of sound, his way of curling up into a fur ball, which accelerates the pace of the game by allowing him to run faster and chase enemies. Following the popularity of Sonic the hedgehog, new characters have been created to join the adventure like Knuckles the Echidna, a red, teenage, anthropomorphic echidna, with red dreadlocks.

His name derives from the pointy bones on the top of each hand called “knuckles”, hence, Sonic likes to refer to him as “knucklehead.” His task since birth has been to guard the Master Emerald, which is located on Angel Island. There is also Miles “Tails” Prower, Sonic’s best bud, known mostly by his nickname “Tails”. He is a male, young fox who has the ability to use his tail to propel himself into the air for limited amounts of time. Other characters have been created like “Amy Rose Hedgehog” and “Cream the Rabbit”, producing an entire cast in the Sonic the hedgehog game saga, providing even more fun for those who wish to follow the turn of events.

Sonic the hedgehog games are mainly available in video game cartridges for popular game consoles, in the form of spin-off comics, cartoons, and books. He was redesigned in 1998, with the release of Sonic Adventure, with longer legs and a less spherical body. SEGA was inclined to “soften” the characters appearance from the original 1991 design, with more subtle adjustments to follow.

Sonic is now available on the Wii, and has proved to be one of the most requested and most popular game for this type of console. The fact that Sonic is available in a number of other game consoles just goes to show how popular the character is. In recent years, the Sonic character has also migrated to the internet. Showing up in free flash game websites, where visitors can enjoy playing sonic games on a flash platform. Fan sites like blublurzone.com offer sonic the hedgehog games, drawing pages, character info, history, and sonic scene creators for those creative minds who wish to design their own games. Among the sonic games available in the internet, Sonic Smash Brothers, and Ultimate Flash Sonic seem to be the most popular.

In a time where entertainment for the young seems to be decreasing with the rise in violence and nudity being blended into the games in numerous different ways, a blue hedgehog could be a great alternative for responsible parents, worried about what their child is watching in the internet.

Autographs memorabilia recommended resources

Autographs, Memorabilia – Recommended Resources

An autograph (from the Greek: ?????, aut?s, “self” and ?????, gr?ph?, “write”) is a document transcribed entirely in the handwriting of its author, as opposed to a typeset document or one written by an amanuensis or a copyist; the meaning overlaps with that of the word holograph.

Autograph also refers to a person’s signature. This term is used in particular for the practice of collecting autographs of celebrities. The hobby of collecting autographs is known as philography.

Styles

An individual’s writing styles change throughout the lifespan of a person; a signature of President George Washington (c. 1795) will be different from one when he was an 18-year-old land surveyor. After British Admiral Nelson lost his right arm at the Tenerife sea-battle in 1797, he switched to using his left hand. However, the degree of change may vary greatly. The signatures of Washington and Lincoln changed only slightly during their adult lives, while John F. Kennedy’s signature was different virtually every time he signed.

Other factors affect an individual’s signature, including their level of education, health, and so on. Blues singer John Lee Hooker had a limited education, and such is reflected in his handwriting. Composer Charles Ives and boxer Muhammad Ali both suffered from Parkinson’s disease, and their handwriting show the effects of that condition as well. Native American Chief Geronimo had no concept of an alphabet; he “drew” his signature, much like a pictograph.

Many individuals have much more fanciful signatures than their normal cursive writing, including elaborate ascenders, descenders and exotic flourishes, much as one would find in calligraphic writing

For one of the most foremost collections of autographs look up Tommy Scullion; a calligraphic artist in his own right.

As an example, the final “k” in John Hancock’s famous signature on the United States Declaration of Independence loops back to underline his name. This kind of flourish is also known as a paraph.[1][2][3] John Hancock’s signature on the Declaration of Independence is so unique and well-known that the phrase “John Hancock” has become a synonym for “signature” in American English[4][5], and a prominent piece of American iconography.

Categories of celebrities

Some of the most popular categories of autograph subjects are Presidents, military figures, sports, popular culture, artists, social and religious leaders, scientists, astronauts and authors.

Some collectors may specialize in specific fields (such as Nobel Prize winners) or general topics (military leaders participating in World War I) or specific documents (i.e., signers of the Charter of the United Nations; signers of the U.S. Constitution; signers of the Israeli Declaration of Independence; signers of the Charter of the European Common Union; signers of the WWII German or Japanese Surrender documents).

Sports memorabilia signed by a whole team can often be sold for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Commercialization

Some celebrities still enjoy signing autographs for free for fans, keeping it an interesting hobby. Art Carney also enjoyed signing autographs until his death in November 2003.citation needed

Many people who will stand outside premieres etc and ask for autographs are actually professional autograph traders, who then sell the autographs for full profit, rather than fans interested in the star itself or in even keeping the autograph. This is one reason why some celebrities are not willing to distribute their signature unless paid to do so.

Others only give autographs to children. Hilary Duff has sometimes refused to sign autographs.[6] Joe DiMaggio was able to command more money on signing fees than he made in his playing career, though he also gave individual autographs.[7] Bill Russell does not sign at all in public, and only sparingly at private sessions. Michael Jordan reportedly did not sign for most of his career because of safety concerns about frenzied attempts to get his signature, which is worth hundreds of dollars. Jordan has frequently signed at more peaceful events, such as golf tournaments.

Pete Rose was paid to sign 30 baseballs with the inscription “I’m sorry I bet on baseball.”[8] Other personalized items were signed for free, such as a baseball prankishly signed “F*** Yogi” by Mickey Mantle.[9] Actor/comedian Steve Martin carries business cards which he hands to fans requesting an autograph; the cards read “This certifies that you have had a personal encounter with me and that you found me warm, polite, intelligent and funny.”[10]

Realizing the potential profit in the sale of pop culture autographs, many dealers also would wait for hours for a celebrity to emerge from a location, present several photos for the celebrity to sign and then sell most of them. Michael Jackson’s experience was typical; he often signed just a handful of autographs as he rushed from his hotel to his vehicle. Some collectors take note of which celebrities are the most gracious or the least forthcoming.[11]

Some dealers would locate a celebrity’s home address and write to them repeatedly asking for autographs. The celebrities soon grew tired of the practice and limited their responses. Because of the many autographs a celebrity might sign over time, some check requests against a record of past requests. Boxer George Foreman, for instance, records the names and addresses of every person requesting an autograph to limit such abuses.

Cosplay competition in the real life

Cosplay Competition in the Real Life

The term ‘Cosplay’ has metamorphosed into Cosplay competition where participants act out a particular character usually taken from some popular Japanese fiction. These participants actually wear costumes and various accessories associated with or worm by the characters. Some of the fictions from which these characters are drawn include anime, manga, video games, hentai, tokusatsu as well as comic books. The term ‘cosplay’ is credited to Nobuyuki Takahashi who got the inspiration while he was attending the 1984Los Angeles Science Fiction, WorldCon.

Inasmuch as the term cosplay is a Japanese creation, the practice itself is quite steeped in American culture. Cosplay is an extension of the comparative long standing practice of costuming in America and Europe. The characterization is drawn in this case from famous movies such as Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek and The Lord of the Rings. The popularity of the Japanese animes have also had an effect on the American cosplay practice such that it is now common to see characterization of Japanese fiction on American cosplay competition. Conversely, in Asia, there has been a gradual infusion of western characterization in the cosplay events. This is no doubt a direct result of the success and popularity of fantasy and science fiction movies like The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and Star Wars. It is therefore becoming quite common to see characters from these movies in Asian cosplay competition.

Cosplay competition has certain rules although some may be peculiar to specific competitions. One of the rules that cut across the board is that regarding the use of other people’s photos. Of course, one of the biggest attractions of any cosplay competition is taking pictures but then third party rights also apply although nothing prevents anyone from using personal recordings.

Some of the laws that may apply in a cosplay event include the following:

  1. Time Limit on Performances: Considering the fact that there are a number of acts, there has to be time caps on performances. Individual, two or three person acts could attract time limits of three and four minutes respectively.
  2. Cosplayers have to provide the organizers of the competition with a storyboard of their act for assessment of its ability to captivate the audience. This of course is to ensure that all boring acts are weeded out early enough and those that make it to the final stage are very exciting.
  3. Visitors are permitted to take pictures if the cosplay competition. The one exception to this permission is the use of flash photography.

Outside the competitions, the cosplayers have also gotten the opportunity to bond with each other and share ideas online via forums and social networks. Sharing tips and other resources has also helped spread the culture. In Hong Kong, there are quite a number of activities dedicated to this culture such as:

–          Rainbow Gala

–          Comic World HK

–          Asian Game Show

–          Photography oriented events organized privately in locations like the popular Tai Po Waterfront and Kowloon Park.
